The 22RPD billet 8HP70 conversion kit bolts a ZF 8HP70 automatic straight behind a BMW M5x or S5x inline-six. There's no intermediate adapter plate, and the factory starter stays in its original location.
The bellhousing is machined from billet in two pieces: a common oil-pump base and an engine-specific front section. The kit is built around the N63 Gen 1 8HP70, which is easy to source in the U.S. without importing an N57 donor.
Fitment
- Engines: M50, M52, M52TU, M54, S50, S52, S54
- Chassis: E36 and E46
- Donor transmission: N63 Gen 1 8HP70. Other 8HP70 variants may work if they share the angled torque-converter face and the 14-bolt oil-pump plate.
Kit options
- Billet 8HP midplate: $1,950. The universal oil-pump base, for custom installs.
- E36 or E46 bellhousing and mounting kit: $3,850. The complete bolt-in kit for your chassis, using a transmission you supply.
